HERSTORY FOUNDATION BOOKS

These are illustrations have been commissioned by HerStory Foundation, and UNDP, both organisation that creates innovative content for development, gender equality and  human rights. 

They feature iconic Bangladeshi women from the past and present, who have trail blazed and made an impact with different causes. This includes-

  • Siddiqua Kabir, nutritionist, academic, cookbook author and cooking show television host.

  • Muktasree Chakma Sathi, a rights activist, researcher, columnist and award winning journalist who has been working for minorities’ rights for more than 14 years, with a particular focus on the rights of women, children, indigenous peoples.

  • Chandrabati, a medieval Bengali poet, widely considered as the first woman poet of Bengali language and best known for her women-centered epic Ramayana.

  • Nawab Faizunessa Choudhurani, a Zamindar of Homnabad-Pashchimgaon Estate in  Comilla, Bangladesh who is most famous for her campaign for female education and other social issues.

  • Taramon Bibi Bir Protik, one of the two female freedom fighters in Bangladesh who had engaged in direct combat during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971 as a member of the Mukti Bahini which was a guerrilla force that fought against the Pakistan military.
